We would like to welcome you on behalf of IS&T - The Society for Imaging Science and Technology and SPIE - The International Society for Optical Engineering to San Jose for the 12th Symposium on Electronic Imaging: Science and Technology. The symposium will be the first imaging event of the new Millennium. With over two dozen conferences grouped in 8 programs, the EI Symposium has become the premier international event in Electronic Imaging.
While some conferences have been part of EI from the beginning, others are very new, testifying the symposium's role in nurturing the latest progress in electronic imaging by tracking the hottest trends. This flexibility has allowed the symposium to maintain both breadth and depth, while defining the cutting edge of electronic imaging science and technology.
The encouragement of conferences, papers, and posters on work in progress, combined with synchronized sessions, makes the symposium the premier forum for sharing knowledge about the latest progress in the field. Most of all, the Symposium has an excellent track record for encouraging synergism between the many research areas in electronic imaging. The coverage breadth makes this symposium also the best entry point for newcomers in any electronic imaging field.
To underscore the symposium's role as a knowledge exchange, we are open to proposals for new Short Courses that reflect the topics of the EI conferences, especially on hot new technologies (see pg. 5).
The EI 2000 event is rounded by extensive vendor exhibits, workshops, interest group meetings, and technology demonstrations. With its receptions and the convenient downtown location the Symposium is a prime occasion to renew collegial friendships and make new contacts. Make your plans now to actively participate in this exciting electronic imaging event. Make San Jose in the Silicon valley your first destination in the new Millennium.
