Review

When it comes to stretch marks, there’s no way to tell if you’ll develop them during pregnancy or not, though research suggests genetics and how quickly you gain weight during pregnancy likely play a part. And once you have them, they're yours. But if you're self-conscious about your stretch marks, Nivea Q10 Firming Body Oil could help reduce the appearance of them (not to mention even your skin tone, hydrate your skin and leave you with firmer-feeling skin).

We tested Nivea's body oil out with moms and moms-to-be, and the results were promising. Most of our testers began to notice a slight improvement in the appearance of their stretch marks after using the Nivea body oil for a few weeks. One mom, who described her stretch marks as "really bad," told us that she saw a slight change in redness and appearance, while others noted a general minimal improvement. It's important to keep in mind that there's no miracle product that will produce a dramatic change in your stretch marks really quickly. Though the change is gradual, nearly all of our mom testers said Nivea Q10 Firming Body Oil is better than other stretch marks oils or creams that they’ve tried in the past.

My stretch marks are minimal and fair—the white kind, just above my hips. They are still there, but do actually seem to be a little less noticeable.” —Aleashia, mom of two

There's a lot more to like about this lightly fragranced body oil. Moms-to-be loved how this oil soothed the tight, itchy skin on their belly during pregnancy, and our editors were impressed with how well it moisturized. In our lab tests, we found that it left skin soft and smooth long after application. Most of our moms thought that their skin felt immediately softer after using the oil, and they also felt their skin was generally softer with regular use. The majority of our testers also said this body oil feels soothing on their skin. Over and above the top-notch hydration, some of our testers also felt that the Nivea oil evened their skin tone. And our editors and testers alike enjoyed the light fragrance of the Nivea body oil; even the mom who said she usually avoids scented products noted that the scent is "light and unassuming."

I love how moisturized my skin feels after using this product. I suffered from dry skin a lot during my pregnancy and this body oil really alleviated it." —Suzanne, mom of one

When people think of an oil, thick and greasy often comes to mind. But Nivea Q10 Firming Body Oil is lightweight, with a thinner consistency. Whether you’re applying the oil right after your morning shower or smoothing it over dry skin at the end of a busy day, our editors and most of our testers found it goes on without a fuss, spreading well and absorbing quickly. While you might notice a very slight oiliness on your skin after applying, it doesn’t leave a sticky or greasy residue like some oils—a major plus. Our testers were a little lukewarm on dispensing the oil, though. The top of the Nivea Q10 Firming Body Oil is fitted with a bottle plug with a narrow hole so the oil doesn't come pouring out, but this does causes it to dribble a bit. One of our testers said she wished the bottle had a pump to avoid over-dispensing the product.

Price also matters (especially when you're a new parent who's just dropped a bundle on baby stuff), and Nivea Q10 Firming Body Oil has an appealing lower-range price point considering the cost per 100 mL of product. All of our mom testers gave it a good or very good rating for value, and all but one said they'd purchase it again.

FINAL WORD

Both our editors and the moms who tested Nivea Q10 Firming Body Oil were impressed with it. Minimizing the look of stretch marks means using the oil on a consistent basis, but because it’s a lightweight formula that applies easily and absorbs quickly, it’s not an arduous task. And you don’t need a lot to feel the hydrating effect, so the budget-friendly bottle will last you quite some time. Most of our testers gave this stretch mark oil good or very good ratings for quality, ease of use and value, and all but one would recommend it to other moms.
